San Francisco Man Accused Of Shaking 4-Month-Old Son
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- A man was arrested in San Francisco Wednesday night on suspicion of shaking his infant son, causing life-threatening injuries, a police spokesman said Thursday.
Karl Aspelin was arrested around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of abusing his 4-month-old child, San Francisco police Lt. Troy Dangerfield said.
Police were notified by Child Protective Services earlier that day that the boy had suffered life-threatening injuries in an incident at a home in the city's Inner Parkside neighborhood, Dangerfield said.
The boy suffered from "shaken baby syndrome," which causes severe brain damage, and remained hospitalized this afternoon, Dangerfield said.
Aspelin, a San Francisco resident, was booked into jail on suspicion of inflicting corporal injury on a child, Dangerfield said.
The Police Department's child abuse unit is investigating the case, he said.
