San Francisco Gas Leak Capped Near St. Luke's Hospital
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - St. Luke's Hospital in San Francisco's Mission District was placed under a shelter-in-place order Tuesday afternoon because of a gas leak, a hospital spokesman said.
A construction crew hit a line in the middle of the intersection of San Jose Avenue and Duncan Street around 3 p.m., fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
PG&E said on its Twitter page that a third-party contractor had struck a 2-inch gas main and that crews were working to stop the flow of gas.
The leak was capped at 4:18, and all repairs were expected to be complete Tuesday evening. The shelter in place was lifted.
Hospital spokesman Dean Fryer said the leak was on the medical office side of the building, away from the hospital entrance.
