San Francisco DA Reveals New Evidence In Murder Of Alleged Pimp
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — District Attorney George Gascon revealed on Friday what he called a significant break in the case involving a couple accused of killing their teenage daughter's alleged pimp.
Speaking from the Hall of Justice, Gascon said new evidence places three defendants together before and after the fatal shooting of Calvin Sneed on June 4th. Gascon also said it was not a crime of passion, but a premeditated conspiracy to murder.
Sneed, who was from Compton in Los Angeles County, was believed to be pimping a 17-year-old girl from San Francisco.
KCBS' Anna Duckworth Reports:
"We have now developed compelling evidence, surveillance video, and phone records that puts three defendants shortly before and shortly after the murder," he said.
Gascon said the video showed the girl's father Barry Gilton, his cousin Antonio Gilton, and Alfonso Williams in another part of San Francisco exchanging a gun. The video was set up for an unrelated federal case.
According to Gascon, cell phone records show the three men were in the vicinity of Meade Avenue in the city's Bayview District early on June 4, when Sneed was shot in the head.
"This quite frankly is a drive-by shooting. There is no other way to put it. Those people conspired, they came together and they went out and they hunted the victim down," Gascon said during the news conference.
The girl's mother, Lupe Mercado, was also charged with murder and conspiracy.
Gascon said all four defendants are due back in court Thursday morning.
