Scope and responsibilities of current role?
"As the president of the Academy of Mindful Psychology, I am responsible for the overall functioning and operations of the Academy. This includes working closely with staff, the creation and development of all coursework and the selection of dynamic faculty. It also requires that I ensure that the Academy maintains an engaging online presence through its website and social media outlets, and through its Resource Center which provides relevant information."
Through my private practice I continue to provide clinical services to a wide array of clients. My practice allows me to work with individual, couple, families and adolescents. I approach each situation from a Mindful Psychology perspective, a theoretical approach developed by me that embraces a 'wellness' model. It integrates mindfulness, psychology, neuroscience, health and wellness, and spirituality and consciousness; all fundamental aspects of emotional well-being."
What is your favorite part of your daily duties?
"My favorite part of my daily duties is interacting and engaging with people, whether with my staff, clients, colleagues or the public. Engaging with people brings meaning to my life."
Do you feel your education prepared you for your current role?
"I simply could not have the career I have built without my education. Education opened doors to me that would otherwise been unavailable."
Do you have any advice for people who desire to pursue a similar career?
"My advice is quite simple. Life is about being expansive; about having every opportunity and experiencing life to the fullest. Education is not only good for your brain (scientifically demonstrated), but it can open doors and life experience that would not be available otherwise. Why lead a limited life?"
