San Francisco City Workers Hastily Clean Up Streets Following Parade
SAN FRANCISCO (KBCS) – Amazingly, it took only a few hours for workers in San Francisco to clean up the Giants parade route after confetti was dropped onto Market Street on Wednesday.
City workers swept and washed away the over 1 ½ tons of black and orange confetti. Department of Public Works Director Mohammed Nuru said the paper confetti was easier to manage than what was used in 2010.
KCBS' Chris Filippi Reports:
"We had more of a plastic type looking confetti. It was stringy and plastic-looking," Nuru said. "So it was much harder for our machines to pick up."
Nuru said Public Works has a lot of experience cleaning up after big events on Market Street, including about 10 parades a year.

"We're very familiar with Market Street and we have a good methodology as to how we approach Market Street and it's working," he said.
All told, about six dozen workers were used to help clean up after the parade.
