San Francisco City Hall Opens Doors For Holiday Celebration
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) _ Thousands of children spent the day at San Francisco City Hall on Tuesday, part of the city's annual holiday Christmas party for disadvantaged children.
Sponsored by the fire department and child support services, long lines of kids waited for their moment to crawl onto Santa's lap and get their gift.
KCBS' Barbara Taylor Reports:
Firefighter union leader Tom O'Connor was beaming as the children swirled around in glee.
"This is money that we just got from PG&E and we purchased a thousand basketballs and we spent 18 hours blowing them up on Sunday," he said. "Santa's workshop was very busy this weekend."
The annual event is aimed at lifting the spirits of the children who might otherwise have very little to celebrate during the holiday season.
