San Francisco Chinatown Theater Owner Not Facing Charges In Woman's Death
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- Police threw Harris Rosenbloom in jail after he called 911 Sunday and said his friend was unconscious inside the Great Star Theater in Chinatown. Kelsey Fourdyce was, in fact, dead. But late Tuesday afternoon, prosecutors announced Rosenbloom, the theater owner, will not face charges.
Spokesman Alex Bastian told KPIX 5 the cause of death is undetermined, that drugs may have been involved and the DA's office is waiting for the toxicology report prior to making a charging decision.
Bastian said Rosenbloom will likely be released from jail while that decision is being made.
Fourdyce was 31 years old and lived in Oakland. It's not clear what her relationship was with Rosenbloom. Police originally said they believed they had enough evidence to charge him with murder.
"When the medical examiner went to the scene, he determined that the death was suspicious," Officer Grace Gatpandan of the San Francisco Police said. "Homicide conducted their investigation and based on the totality of the circumstances and everything they found at the scene, they determined Mr. Rosenbloom was responsible for the crime."
On social media, an outpouring of emotion for Kelsey from friends and family. Her mother, Diane Fourdyce, posted on Facebook that it's the hardest day of her life. "Kelsey was found dead in San Francisco. Homicide Investigation. My beautiful daughter is lost to us. I can't talk," she said.
