San Francisco Chinatown Gala To Celebrate Nancy Pelosi's Career
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A gala was planned in San Francisco's Chinatown Tuesday evening to celebrate the career of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
Dozens of local politicians and business leaders were set to gather to mark her quarter-century tenure in Congress.
The reception and banquet come 25 years after Pelosi, D-San Francisco, made her first public appearance as a candidate for Congress at a fundraiser in Chinatown, according to event organizers.
Pelosi later rose to become the first female Speaker of the House.
Tuesday's event takes place at 6:30 p.m. at the New Asia Restaurant. The event was sold out.
The honorary co-chairs for the event included many local politicians, including Mayor Ed Lee and nine members of the Board of Supervisors, various state senators and Assembly members, and U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo/San Francisco.
