San Francisco Burglary Suspect Arrested After Chase, Crash

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - A man was arrested Thursday morning after a pursuit in San Francisco's Mission District that started when police interrupted a burglary in progress, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to a report of a home burglary in the 3000 block of 16th Street at about 11:15 a.m., San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said.

At least one resident was home at the time of the burglary, Esparza said.

As officers arrived, the suspect fled and a pursuit ensued. It ended a short time later at the intersection of 17th Street and South Van Ness Avenue, where the suspect crashed his car, colliding with two other vehicles, Esparza said.

The suspect, a middle-aged man, was arrested at the scene.

He suffered minor injuries, as did at least one person in one of the other cars, Esparza said.
