San Francisco Aims To Better Control Tour Bus Parking
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – There's new legislation at the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to better manage the tour bus industry.
Tour buses are big business in San Francisco, but many say they are also just too big to be sitting on city streets. Supervisor David Chiu said that what's needed is a tour bus management plan.
"Passenger loading zones are often crowded, and we have buses that stay longer than necessary and encourage other buses to double park, or to use Muni stops," said Chiu. "While customers are visiting destinations some of these buses end up circling city streets for hours."
KCBS' Barbara Taylor Reports:
The draft plan would create more tour bus loading zones with time limits on parking. There would also be new metered tour bus parking spaces, areas set aside for overnight parking, and perhaps a new permit system to enforce it all.
