San Bruno Restaurateur Killed In I-280 Crash
SAN BRUNO (CBS SF) -- A man killed in a crash on Interstate Highway 280 late Saturday night has been identified as San Bruno restaurant owner Isaac Mejia.
Mejia was driving north on Highway 280 near the Interstate Highway 380 connector in San Bruno when his Mercedes smashed into the concrete wall on the east side of the road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash sent the car into a guardrail across four lanes of traffic and into the highway's center divider, where it came to rest.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Mejia, 51, was declared dead at the scene and later identified by the San Mateo County Coroner's Office. He is the owner of Don Pico's Mexican Bistro and Cevicheria in San Bruno, which has been owned by his family since 1975.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision, although a complete shutdown of the roadway around the scene of the crash for about 30 minutes early this morning caused significant delays in the area.
