San Bruno Golfer Hahn Scores A Spot In U.S. Open
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Former Cal golfer James Hahn took the long road to a spot in the 2012 U.S. Open at San Francisco's Olympic Club.
Sunday, he missed his flight from North Carolina back to the Bay Area – for good reason. He was still competing in the Nationwide Tour event in Raleigh. He went on to win that event in a playoff for his first title on that tour.
Hahn then caught a late flight back to San Francisco, landing at 1:00 a.m. After only a few hours sleep in his San Bruno home, he was back on the course at 7:00 a.m. for his tee time.
Hahn then carded a -8 over the 36-hole Sectional Qualifying site at Lake Merced & TPC at Harding Park in San Francisco.
That score not only earned Hahn a berth in his first U.S. Open, it won him the Sectional and one of the seven berths awarded that day.
112th U.S. Open will be played June 14-17.
