Salinas Police Investigate Double Homicide At Natividad Creek Park
SALINAS (CBS SF) -- Police are investigating a double homicide that happened at a Salinas Park Saturday afternoon, involving at least one juvenile victim.
Around 4:46 p.m. officers responded to report of a shooting at Natividad Creek Park at 1395 Nogal Drive, according to police.
When officers arrived, they found two male victims inside a car. Officers believe a lone gunman approached the two as they sat in the car and opened fire, police said.
One victim, identified as 17-year-old Juan Carlos Cruz, was struck multiple times in the torso and died at the scene, according to police.
The second victim, who has not yet been identified, was struck at least once in the chest. He was taken to Natividad Medical Center where he died while in surgery, police said.
The suspect was only described as wearing dark clothing. After the shooting, the suspect was seen fleeing into an awaiting dark colored SUV, according to police.
