Salinas Man Gets 36 Years For Sexually Abusing Children
SALINAS (BCN) - A Salinas man was sentenced to 36 years in prison for six counts of sexual assault against two children, Monterey County District Attorney Dean D. Flippo announced Friday.
The lengthy prison time to which Superior Court Judge Russell D. Scott sentenced 34-year-old Roman Loques stems from 2008 charges against Loques that revealed habitual sexual abuse on two children, the district attorney's statement said.
In July 2008, the first victim revealed to police that she had been recently molested by Loques, the statement said.
Ongoing interviews with the child revealed that Loques had begun abusing her when she was about four years old and had continued to molest her for several years. Police also determined that Loques molested that child's sibling, according to Flippo's statement.
The child told police that one reason she had delayed reporting the abuse was because Loques had threatened to harm her siblings if she ever told anyone what he had done to her, the statement said.
Each of Loques' six convictions count as a separate strike under California's Three Strikes Law, and Loques is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, the statement said.
