Sacramento-Area Man Believed Missing In Sonoma Co. Redwoods
GUERNEVILLE (CBS SF) -- Search and rescue teams and volunteers from Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties are looking for a Sacramento-area man who is believed to be missing in Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve in Guerneville.
Anton Mutu, 30, was reported missing from Carmichael by his wife Tuesday morning, Sonoma County sheriff's Sgt. Jim Naugle said Friday afternoon.
Mutu's BMW SUV was found Wednesday in the parking lot of the 805-acre Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve adjoining the 5,683-acre Austin Creek State Recreation Area.
The third day of the search began at 7:30 a.m. Friday and will continue until darkness, Naugle said.
It's unknown if Mutu has a cellphone with him and has tried to use it because coverage in that area of west Sonoma County is poor, Naugle said.
There is no evidence foul play is involved in Mutu's disappearance, Naugle said.
