Romney In Bay Area For Private Fundraiser In Hillsborough
HILLSBOROUGH (CBS SF) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney arrived in the Bay Area on Friday for a private fundraising event in Hillsborough, according to his campaign.
Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, attended a fundraiser at 4:45 p.m. at a private estate at Strawberry Hill, according to an invitation for the event posted on a website for a local Republican group.
Former Secretary of State George Shultz and billionaire Tom Siebel were slated to attend, along with Hewlett-Packard CEO and former Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman.
Tickets for the event, which is closed to media, cost between $1,000 and $50,000 per person, campaign officials said.
The fundraiser comes on the same day that Romney released his full 2011 tax returns that show he and his wife paid $1,935,708 in taxes on $13,696,951 of income, a tax rate of 14.1 percent.

President Barack Obama is also expected to visit the Bay Area for a fundraiser prior to the November election.
The president's campaign announced Thursday that Obama will be visiting San Francisco on Oct. 8.
