Robert De Niro Launches F-Bomb At San Francisco Tech CEO
NEW YORK (CBS SF) -- Robert De Niro apparently doesn't take kindly to tech moguls he thinks are disrespecting celebrities.
Entertainment news publication Page Six reported De Niro made it known in front of a crowd of hundreds at the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards in New York Wednesday.
De Niro was apparently unamused by the remarks about actors and celebrities during the acceptance speech for the Technology Innovator award, given to Stewart Butterfield, founder and CEO of messaging app Slack.
"We are a long way from San Francisco," Butterfield reportedly said, while joking about being the "nerd" in the stylish, star-studded crowd. According to the report, at one point he looked at De Niro and said, "I watched 'Godfather II' on the plane . . . when you killed Don Fanucci, I liked that."
The 72-year-old De Niro then stepped up to present the Entertainment/Film Innovator award to Angelina Jolie when he delivered this mouthful:
"Whoever the last speaker was . . . I thought you were a bit condescending to us actors . . . celebrities," entertainment news publication Page Six quoted De Niro as saying. "I'm gonna go on record with you just to say that. And I don't give a f**k who you are."
Butterfield, who's company is valued at $3 billion, seemed to shrug the whole thing off but with a slightly different account.
