Robbers Dressed As Utility Workers Tie Up, Rob Vallejo Family
VALLEJO (KCBS/BCN) — Two suspects posing as PG&E employees tied up three family members in a Vallejo home Wednesday morning and fled with cash and household items, police said.
Police were informed at 8:34 a.m. of the home invasion robbery that had just happened on the 1400 block of Farrell Street, Lt. Kevin Bartlett said.
The family — including a six-year-old girl — were bound and robbed of cash and other property over a period of about 20 minutes. A man who lives at the home was pistol-whipped. The victims managed to untie themselves and call police, reporting that the suspects left in a gold SUV — possibly a Cadillac Escalade.
The suspects, wearing Day-Glo vests and hard hats, knocked on the door of the residence and were let inside when they said they were with PG&E, Bartlett said.
They were described as a black man and possibly a Hispanic man in their 30s.
Bartlett said this is the third such incident in recent weeks. Police are reminding residents to be leery of unplanned visits by workers, and to check their identification cards through a peephole before opening the door.
