6 Shot, 0 Arrests As Bullets Fly In Richmond Shooting String
RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- Six teenagers have been the targets of a recent spate of shootings in Richmond. Police are trying to figure out why as they hunt those responsible for the violence.
The violence started last Tuesday with a shooting that wounded four teenagers. On Friday, 16-year-old Rodney Frazier, a basketball star at Richmond High School, was fatally shot. The next day, another teenager was injured in a shooting.
"So we have six, 15- or 16-year-olds shot in our area in the last five days," said Capt. Mark Gagan of the Richmond Police Department.
Five of the victims went to Richmond High School.
Investigators are still trying to sort all this out, but several of the shootings may be related. School officials and authorities are on alert.
"Because if it's gang related it could be even more problematic and there could be retribution, revenge or retaliation. We hope that doesn't happen," said Charles T. Ramsey, president of the West Contra Costa County Unified School District Board of Education.
There have been no arrests so far in any of the shootings.
