Residents Escape 2-Alarm House Fire In Vallejo
VALLEJO (CBS SF) - A 2-alarm fire gutted a house in Vallejo early Monday morning, a Vallejo fire official said.
The fire at a single-family home in the 300 block of Seawind Drive was reported at 3:51 a.m., said Vallejo Fire Department Emergency Medical Services Coordinator Michael Humphrey.
Arriving crews saw the house engulfed in flames that threatened to spread to neighboring homes and updated the blaze to two alarms, Humphrey said.
Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire and contained it to the house where it originated, he said.
Humphrey said he did not have information about the house's occupants but said that residents of neighboring homes all evacuated safely.
The fire appears to have completely destroyed the house, although no damage estimate was available early Monday morning, Humphrey said.
Firefighters said the flames were driven by wind, but what sparked the blaze is under investigation, he said.
Fire crews remained on the scene of the fire just before 6 a.m.
