Repeat DUI Offender Arrested In Petaluma Stakeout

PETALUMA (CBS SF) - A brief police stakeout outside of a Petaluma bar led to the arrest of a two-time DUI offender on Monday.

The stakeout began after officers spotted Steven Mark Roetter's 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck parked outside the bar at about 4:45 p.m., police said.

The officers recognized the truck and were aware that Roetter, 40, was on active DUI probation, which prohibited him from patronizing bars and liquor stores, police said.

Police watched the truck from a distance for about 15 minutes until Roetter left the bar and drove away.

The officers stopped Roetter at English Street and Hill Boulevard and found that he was under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and violation of probation, and was booked into Sonoma County Jail, police said.
