Reno Drapes Iconic Welcome Sign With 'Go Kap Go' Banner
RENO (CBS/AP) - Colin Kaepernick is drawing support in the city where he starred as a college quarterback.
Two large banners reading "Go Kap Go!" drape the landmark Reno Arch, which proclaims Reno as "The Biggest Little City in the World."
The city of Reno and University of Nevada, Reno, teamed up to hang the signs in the downtown casino area.
The nearby Eldorado Hotel Casino's rotating outdoor marquee features three huge photographs of the 49ers quarterback with the message: "Congratulations to Our Hometown Hero."
Reno Mayor Bob Cashell said the banners also are designed to show support for the university, where Kaepernick played from 2007 to 2010.
The university took out an ad in Friday's San Francisco Chronicle urging prospective students to "tour the campus that made Kap great."
