Redwood City Middle School Boys Convicted In Sex Assault
REDWOOD CITY (CBS/AP) - Three Redwood City middle school boys are facing time in a detention facility after admitting to the sexual assault of two girls during a class field trip.
Prosecutors say two of the boys, ages 13 and 14, entered admissions on Monday to lewd and lascivious conduct in juvenile court. Admissions are the equivalent of a guilty plea in the adult court system.
A third boy, aged 12, admitted to sexual battery.
The admissions, which were accepted by the court, were entered just as the boys were set to go on trial. They are scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 5.
Authorities say five boys—students at John F. Kennedy Middle School—assaulted the 12-year-old girls during a field trip in March.
Charges against the two other boys are still pending.
