Reddick, Ramirez Leads A's Past Mariners Split Squad
PHOENIX (CBS / AP) -- Josh Reddick hit a two-run double to key a four-run first and the Oakland Athletics beat a Seattle Mariners split-squad 6-1 on Friday night.
Manny Ramirez added an RBI double and Colin Cowgill singled home a run for the A's, who lead the majors with 107 runs in their 15 games.
Oakland starter Graham Godfrey allowed a run after just three batters, but settled down to retire the final 11 hitters he faced. He gave up two hits and a one walk and had five strikeouts in 3 2-3 innings.
Hisashi Iwakuma, a Japanese League veteran fighting for the final spot in the Mariners' rotation, gave up five runs—three earned—on seven hits and a walk. He had three strikeouts.
Ichiro Suzuki was 3 for 4 and drove in Seattle's lone run.
