Record Number Of Gay Characters Featured On Broadcast TV
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A new study says a record number of gay characters are featured on broadcast TV series.
The study released Thursday by the media advocacy group GLAAD says the small-screen remains far ahead of film in LGBTQ representations.
But the group says that lesbian and bisexual female characters on TV overall are too often victims of violence. Gay rights organization GLAAD said the characters' deaths send a message that such people are disposable.
The group has been studying gay depictions on TV for 21 years.
