Record High Temperatures Hit The Bay Area
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Many people spent Sunday outdoors, rather than in front of their televisions watching the pre-game festivities for the Super Bowl.
The unseasonably warm weather broke at least a half a dozen records around the Bay Area, including in Napa, Santa Rosa, San Francisco and San Jose.
KCBS' Bob Butler Reports:
National Weather Service Meteorologist Ryan Walburn said the overnight low in San Francisco exceeded the normal daytime high.
"As the clock ticked to midnight, it was still about 70 degrees. Looking back right now, our low so far in the city was 65, which is several degrees higher than the normal for the day," he said.
Paul Beth was sitting along the Embarcadero in shorts and a t-shirt.
"I'm from Minneapolis. Weather up there, we've gotten over 60 inches of snow and the temperature right now is 24 degrees," he said.
Locals and tourists alike spent much of the weekend in San Francisco basking in the sun.
