Rain, Wind Batter Bay Area; More Storms Coming
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A storm system has brought heavy rain and winds to the Bay Area and Northern California, flooding roads and downing trees.
Forecasters said more rain is on the way. Over the weekend small hail and thunderstorms were possible, according to the National Weather Service.
Marin County has been among the heaviest hit areas so far.
Since the wet weather began Tuesday, Marin County and the Santa Cruz Mountains has borne the brunt of the rainfall. As of 11 p.m. Wednesday, 9.12 inches had accumulated in Ben Lomond and 7.24 inches in Kentfield. 1.76 inches of rainfall was reported in San Francisco. Only .10 inches of rainfall was recorded in San Jose, due to an effect known as a rain shadow.
In Sonoma, downed trees closed parts of several rural roads, and a home in Healdsburg was damaged when a 50-foot oak tree came down on it. No one was injured.
Trees fell on two houses in Monte Rio on Tuesday night, destroying the roof of one of the homes.

Rain was expected throughout Wednesday, and then again Thursday morning through at least Sunday.
Travelers arriving at San Francisco International Airport Wednesday were anywhere from a few minutes to three hours late because of the rainy weather, airport officials said Wednesday.
"Right now it's arrivals, but later on it will start affecting departures," airport spokesman Mike McCarron said.
Delays were expected to continue throughout the day, with shorter, regional flights experiencing the longest delays.
International flights were the least affected, followed by cross-country flights, McCarron said.
