Quick-Thinking CHP Officers, Good Samaritans Rescue Dog Hit By Car
ROHNERT PARK (CBS SF) -- A stray dog that was hit by a car in Rohnert Park is on the road to recovery thanks to the efforts of Good Samaritans and quick-thinking officers.
The dog's tag says his name is Mr. Man. Someone hit him and just kept on driving.
According to the Santa Rosa CHP, officers discovered Mr. Man suffering with a broken leg on Santa Rosa Avenue, just south of Todd Road on Monday. Several drivers had already called. They saw the animal lying in the road and stopped their cars to block the lane so as to prevent others from hitting it again.
The officers used a plastic bag to make a sling and were able to load the dog into the back of the patrol car and take him to the hospital.
Apparently, Mr. Man has a chip that comes back with the name of an owner in Nevada, so veterinary staffers have contacted the Human Society there.
The CHP never did track down car that hit Mr. Man.
