Protest Planned As Facebook Founder Hosts Chris Christie Fundraiser
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) - Protests are expected Wednesday night as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberk hosts a fundraiser at his Palo Alto home for Republican Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey.
Christie, who many view a top GOP challenger for the White House in 2016, is currently running for re-election to the Governor's House. Guest at the home of Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan can donate as much as $3,800 to Christie's Gubernatorial campaign, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report.
The fundraiser, part of a two-day California trip, has raised speculation that Christie is trying to build his image in California ahead of a possible 2016 presidential bid.
The 28-year-old Zuckerberg has previously appeared with President Obama at a town hall-style meeting at Facebook Headquarters in 2011. However, according to the Chronicle, he did not make personal donations to either of the Democrat's presidential campaigns.
CREDO, a progressive activism group based in San Francisco, has vowed to protest the Wednesday's in opposition to Christie's policies on Planned Parenthood and women's health issues.
