Private Memorial Service Held For Asiana Plane Crash Victims
COLMA (CBS/AP) — The victims of the Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crash were remembered with a memorial service Wednesday.
A spokesman for San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee said he attended the private service in Colma for the three Chinese girls who died.
The parents of the girls spoke at the service and the Chinese consul general also attended. No further details were provided.
The girls were killed when a Boeing 777 crash-landed after approaching a San Francisco International Airport runway too low and too slow on July 6.
One of the girls was thrown out the back of the plane, a second died days later from her injuries, and a third was struck and killed by a fire vehicle rushing to fight a blaze that broke out on the plane.
