Priest Pleads Not Guilty To Lewd Conduct In Marin County Park

SAN RAFAEL (CBS/AP) -- A Marin County priest has pleaded not guilty to exposing himself to an investigator during an undercover sting at China Camp State Park.

Marin County prosecutors say 58-year-old Rev. Feliciano Torres Mofan was released Monday on his own recognizance after entering not guilty pleas to misdemeanor lewd conduct in public and being nude in a state park.

Mofan was arrested last week during a crackdown on lewd behavior at the state park.

Rangers acting on a spike in reports about public sexual activity discovered Internet postings about sexual rendezvous in the park.

Mofan is a retired priest-in-residence at the Church of St. Isabella in Terra Linda. Church officials say Mofan recites Masses but does not teach at parish schools.
