Preview For 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' Released
(KBCW) - Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer of Peter Jackson's highly anticipated 2nd film of "The Hobbit" series, "The Desolation of Smaug."
Of the returning cast, Sir Ian McKellen as "Galdalf," Martin Freeman as the young "Bilbo Baggins," Andy Serkis as "Gollum," Cate Blanchett as "Galadriel" and Hugo Weaving as "Elrond." The trailer also reintroduces us to "Legolas" played by Orlando Bloom and will bring in Evangeline Lilly (Lost) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek: Into Darkness).
The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece "The Hobbit," by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
The film opens in theaters on December 13 and will hit 2D, 3D and IMAX Theaters.
