President Obama Heads To Bay Area To Talk Jobs, Raise Funds
SANTA CLARA (KCBS)— President Barack Obama is coming back to the Bay Area this weekend to raise money and talk about jobs.
On Sunday, the president will be at a fundraising reception at the Woodside home of John Thompson, chairman of Symantec. The cost to get in to the event is $2,500.
KCBS' Betsy Gebhart Reports:
After that President Obama will attend a fundraising dinner at the Atherton home of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.
The cost per plate is reportedly $35,800. The Commander-In-Chief will stick around overnight and then Monday he will host a town-hall meeting at LinkedIn in Mountain View.
KCBS Political Analyst Larry Gerston said this is certainly not the last time we'll see President Obama in the Bay Area before the election next year.
"He's not looking at Silicon Valley just as a cash cow. He's looking at it as a cultivating cow. By that I mean a mechanism to draw support from as many people as possible through technology, not only here in Silicon Valley, but through the nation.
Earlier this year the president hosted town-hall-meetings through Facebook and Twitter.
