Powerball Ticket Worth $1.9M Sold At San Jose Liquor Store
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Someone who bought a Powerball ticket in San Jose for Wednesday's drawing will be $1.9 million richer in the new year, California Lottery officials said Thursday.
Lottery officials reported that the winner, who has not yet come forward, was able to match five of the six numbers in Wednesday's draw, winning $1,900,176.
The mystery winner purchased the ticket at The Wine Rack, a liquor store located at 5768 Santa Teresa Blvd. in San Jose. The ticket matched the numbers 12, 61, 54, 38 and 36, missing only the Powerball number 22.
Winners have 180 days from the date of their winning drawing to claim their prize before the money will be redirected to help California public schools, according to lottery officials.
Lottery officials strongly urge winners to immediately sign the back of their winning ticket and store them in a safe place until they can redeem their prize.
Had the ticket matched all six numbers, it would have been worth $300 million. Since no one had all of the matching numbers, it will roll to Saturday night's drawing, bringing the jackpot to $344 million, lottery officials said.
