Power Outages Leaves Thousands Of PG&E Customers In The Dark
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Tens of thousands of PG&E customers were in the dark Saturday. Crews spent the day restoring power to customers across the Bay Area and were working through the night.
Nearly 55,000 customers were without power at some point during the day, according to PG&E officials, but by 5 p.m. more than half had power restored.
As of 8 p.m. 38,000 customers were still without power, about three-quarters were along the Peninsula. The majority of the rest were in the North and East Bay.
Roughly 200 PG&E workers were in the field Saturday night and crews were going to be working overnight and into the morning to restore power. PG&E brought on an additional 100 workers to staff its San Francisco Emergency Operations Center.
In the Monterey Bay area an outage affecting about 6,000 customers was reported around 4:30 p.m. Power was restored to most of those homes by around 6 p.m., according to PG&E.
More than 5,000 customers were without power in Napa County at 7 p.m. Saturday evening. Power has been restored to most of those homes by about 9:30 p.m.
