Power Outage Shuts Oakland BART Station
OAKLAND (BCN) - A power outage in Oakland Sunday afternoon has caused Bay Area Rapid Transit to close an Oakland train station until power is restored, officials said.
Power at the BART 12th Street Oakland City Center station went out at about 2 p.m., which prompted managers to close the station, a BART official said.
Trains are still running past the station, but are not stopping at the station because of its closure.
The official said several elevators in the West Oakland station are also inoperable due to the outage, but no one was trapped inside of them, he said.
No time estimation was given for when the power would be restored and the station reopened.
PG&E was not immediately available for comment.
