Outage Closes Downtown Berkeley BART Station For 2 Hours

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- BART reopened the Downtown Berkeley station Tuesday afternoon after a PG&E power outage closed the station for almost two hours.

Riders may expect 10-minute delays on the Richmond line as service recovers Tuesday evening, according to BART.

The outage was reported shortly before 4 p.m. and initially impacted 1,150 customers, utility spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said.

During the outage, trains ran through the Downtown Berkeley station but did not stop there, according to a Bart employee.

The closure caused delays for trains heading in the Fremont, Richmond, Millbrae and San Francisco directions, according to BART.
