Porn Site Operator Offers Reward For Identity Of Hacker Who Leaked Celebrity Nude Photos
(CBS SF) -- A porn site operator is offering a cash reward for the identity of the person who hacked into the Apple accounts of celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and Kim Kardashian and leaked more than 100 of their private, nude photos onto the Internet.
Mike Kulich, who runs the porn site SkweezMe.com, said in an interview with Vice the reward amount would be based on "the validity of the information and the coordination with law enforcement."
When news of the leak was announced Sunday, SkweezMe.com issued a press release saying the company "want(s) this hacker brought to justice as much as the women who are the direct victims of this hack."
Kulich told Vice:
"Consent is one of the keystones of the Adult Entertainment Business. Regardless of what anti-porn organizations claim—for instance, that we are all human traffickers and pimps—every girl that appears on film for any production company is there of her own free will. She is consenting to everything that happens on screen. The adult industry feels very strongly about consent, which is why it has been heavily involved in our support for legislation banning revenge porn, which has become illegal in a number of different states."
The FBI said it was also investigating how the celebrity accounts had been hacked, leading to the photos being leaked on the often not-safe-for-work message board 4chan before spreading to multiple other Internet sites.
Apple claimed its own investigation showed it was a targeted hacking attack on celebrity accounts, rather than a breach of security into the iCloud system as originally reported.
