Police Shoot, Kill Man Outside Home In San Jose Foothills
SAN JOSE (CBS 5 / BCN) --A man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon by law enforcement officers on a rural road in the foothills just east of San Jose, authorities said.
Both Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies and San Jose police officers responded about 12:30 p.m. to a report of a suspicious man with a knife near a home in the 4000 block of Higuera Road, sheriff's Sgt. Rick Sung said.
Authorities located the suspect in a creek bed on the property, and one of the San Jose police officers fired multiple shots at the suspect, who was holding a knife, Sung said.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, but no other injuries were reported.
Sung said the suspect's identity is being withheld pending further investigation and an autopsy by the medical examiner's office.
