Police Shoot, Kill Armed Suspect In Union City
UNION CITY (CBS SF) -- One person was killed in an officer-involved shooting Saturday afternoon in Union City, according to police.
Police confronted the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Medallion Drive and Kenita Way after numerous people called 911 to report a person firing several shots, according to Commander Jared Rinetti.
Officers arriving on the scene found a subject with multiple weapons who refused to comply with orders, Rinetti said.
The officers, who feared for their safety, shot the subject, who as later declared dead at the scene.
Officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave, as per normal procedure, while the shooting is investigated by the police department and by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, Rinetti said.

Medallion Drive between Alvarado-Niles and Almaden Roads will be closed throughout the evening while the shooting is investigated.
