Police Seeking Jeep Driver In Fatal Fremont Hit & Run
FREMONT (CBS SF) -- Police are asking the driver of a Jeep Wrangler that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision late Saturday night in Fremont to come forward.
Officers responded at 11:20 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian who was lying in the road near the intersection of Fremont Boulevard and Thorton Avenue, police said.
When officers arrived, citizens were performing CPR on the victim who police identified as a 52-year-old Fremont woman.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she died, according to police.
Officers said witnesses told them a SUV-type vehicle may have hit the woman who was walking in a northbound lane of Fremont Boulevard.
The driver whose vehicle struck the woman did not stop after the collision, police said.
Officers recovered video footage from a nearby business, which indicates the vehicle involved was a 2007 to 2016 light-colored, 2-door Jeep Wrangler with larges tires and a black top.
The Jeep has damage to the fender on the right passenger side, according to police.
