Prowler Crawls Into Woman's Bed Near Calistoga
NAPA COUNTY (BCN) - Napa County authorities are asking the public to report recent prowling incidents following the arrest of a man who entered a residence near Calistoga and climbed into a woman's bed.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the residence at 2 a.m. Monday.
The woman said the man climbed through a window and into her bed. She awoke, confronted him and the man fled, sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart said.
Deputies found 37-year-old Rodrigo Vega Mata in the 3900 block of state Highway 29 and arrested him for burglary and possession of methamphetamine, Stuart said.
Mata, who is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds, is suspected of entering other residences when people were home, including two in Napa and at least one in Oregon, Stuart said.
In some of the burglaries the suspect got into bed with sleeping women and touched them, Stuart said.
Mata is a vineyard worker and also is known as Marcos Vega-Mata, Marcos Mata, Marcos Vega and Victor Palmas, Stuart said.
Anyone with information about Mata or similar prowling instances is asked to call Napa County sheriff's Detective Chris Carlisle at (707) 253-6030.
