Police Search For Suspects In Violent Baker Beach Robbery
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A relaxing visit at a popular San Francisco beach on Tuesday turned into a nightmare for one Bay Area couple who were suddenly targeted by a group of robbers.
The couple, like many people who visit Baker Beach, came out to photograph the expansive views of the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge the beach has to offer.
It was the woman's camera that made her a target.
The couple came to take pictures at sunset, hoping to leave with a shareable snapshot. Instead, they had a frightening encounter as the woman was hospitalized with serious scrapes after thieves knocked her down and dragged her across the parking lot.
The thieves wanted her camera, but she refused to let go. Eventually the thieves won the tug of war and she went to the hospital.
The couple didn't want to be identified for their own safety, but they do want their photographer friends to be careful coming here.
"That's actually really scary there's kids here," said San Francisco resident Jagreet Gosao.
You always need to be careful everywhere you go, but that's not going to stop me from coming here to take pictures, said another area resident.
The woman said she was dragged about 15 feet before she let go. She is expected to fully recover.
So far, no arrests have been made.
