UPDATE: Police Arrest Man Suspected Of Shooting Passing Vehicle Near Parkside Plaza In San Mateo
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- San Mateo police along with a SWAT team arrested a man suspected of shooting a passing vehicle near the Parkside Plaza shopping center.
William "Billy" Boulier, 38, was arrested for assault with a firearm.
The shooting happened around 11:21 a.m. near South Norfolk Street and Kehoe Avenue. When officers responded, they found a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire several times and bullet casings nearby. According to police, the suspect fled on foot southbound on Norfolk Street.
Investigators set up a perimeter around the the shopping center and closed the Kehoe Avenue onramp to Highway 101, but could not locate the suspect. Finally, with the aid of eyewitness accounts and video surveillance footage, officers learned the identity and address of Boulier, who was believed to be armed.
A SWAT team was called in and when the Boulier returned home he was met by waiting patrol officers and taken into custody, according to police.
Boulier was booked into San Mateo County Jail.
