Missing Elderly Danville Man Found South Of Bakersfield
DANVILLE (CBS SF) - An 83-year-old Danville man who went missing Tuesday afternoon and was considered "at-risk" was found in Kern County on Wednesday, police said.
The man, Nicholas Tutino, was reported missing after leaving his Danville home around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
He was considered at-risk because he is in the early stages of dementia and suffers from medical issues related to his heart, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police located Tutino Wednesday afternoon in Frazier Park, a community just off of Interstate 5 about 50 miles south of Bakersfield, after a citizen called 911 to report a suspicious person.
Officers identified Tutino and took him to a hospital for observation, Danville police Lt. Jeff Moule said.
Police were able to reach the Danville man on his cellphone around midnight and saw that he was calling from Kern County.
During that call, Tutino "seemed confused" and was unable to describe his location, Moule said.
