Hackers' Posts On Sierra LaMar's Twitter Page Gave Parents False Hope
MORGAN HILL (KCBS) - Vulgar messages posted on Sierra LaMar's twitter account one month after the Morgan Hill teenager disappeared are the work of hackers, authorities said.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office quickly determined that a series of tweets Wednesday that contained rap lyrics were not posted by the 15-year-old herself, a spokesman said.
The bogus tweets turned out to be a brief glimmer of false hope as Sierra's parents, Steve and Marlene, prepared for a benefit dinner that night.

"People will do what they do," said Steve LaMar.
"I'm just staying positive and keeping focused on finding Sierra."
Investigators have not determined who hacked into Sierra's public Twitter page, and said it was possible someone could have previously learned her password.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said the tweets have not interfered with the investigation. The posts have since been deleted.
Marlene LaMar said she longed for a positive conclusion to the ordeal that began March 16.
"We believe in you. You're strong," she said, speaking to her daughter.
"We want you back. We want this to end."
Volunteer searches organized by the he KlaasKids Foundation for Children have yielded few clues to her whereabouts. Authorities believe she was likely abducted by an acquaintance.
Ricatoni's pledged to donate 15 percent of its proceeds from Wednesday to the search effort.
