San Rafael Man Arrested After Rape Of 14-Year-Old Girl
SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- A San Rafael man was arrested this week on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl, police said Thursday.
The victim, who was brought to Marin General Hospital on Monday afternoon by her mother, told police that she had been sexually assaulted in an apartment on North Avenue in San Rafael by a man she identified as Aorrell Burrell, according to police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher.
Police located Burrell, 35, at a relative's home on Lund Avenue in Hayward that evening, where he was making threats to kill himself.
Burrell ran out the back of the home, but was apprehended by Hayward police and a police dog.
Burrell, who sustained a bite from the police dog during the arrest, was hospitalized for medical treatment until Thursday afternoon, when he was released and booked into Marin County Jail.
He is being held on suspicion of rape by force and rape of an unconscious victim, Rohrbacher said.
Bail has been set at $1 million due to the "heinous nature of the crime," Rohrbacher said.
Burrell is scheduled to appear in Marin County Superior Court for the first time on Monday at 9 a.m.
