Police Bust Major Bay Area Pot Operation Worth More Than $2 Million
HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- Three suspects were arrested Wednesday in connection to a $2 million marijuana cultivation operation at three warehouses in Alameda County, according to police.
Members of the San Leandro Narcotics Unit and Criminal Investigation Division served search warrants to four locations in Alameda County Wednesday morning.
Police arrested Howard Wong, 47, of Oakland, Shuqin Cai, 39, of San Francisco and Laikuan Liang, 52, of Alameda for marijuana cultivation.
Detectives recovered 5,414 marijuana plants, 68 pounds of dried or processed marijuana and $77,440 inside two warehouses in San Leandro and a third warehouse in Hayward.
The seized marijuana plants were estimated to have a street value of over $2 million and the processed marijuana had an estimated street value of $150,000, police said.
