Police Arrest 2nd Suspect In Deadly Concord Crime Spree

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A second suspect was arrested Friday in connection with a crime spree in San Jose last week that left a 22-year-old man dead and included the shooting of a police officer, San Jose police said. The arrest comes just a day before the memorial for the victim.

A 15-year-old San Jose boy was arrested in the 5200 block of Clayton Road in Concord on Friday. Concord police assisted San Jose police during the arrest.

The teenager was wanted for the killing of Rory Park-Pettiford, of San Jose, the night of Nov. 16, as well as the attempted murder of a San Jose police officer, police said.

Jonathan Wilbanks, 26, of San Jose, was arrested on the night of the shooting. Police say that Wilbanks and his teen accomplice robbed four East San Jose businesses and started a shootout with police that injured an officer.

Park-Pettiford was shot during the pair's attempted carjacking in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store in the 400 block of Kiely Boulevard in San Jose that night, according to police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Saturday morning a public viewing was held for Park-Pettiford in Campbell. Later friends and family gathered for Park-Pettiford's memorial at Darling Fischer Memorial Chapel.

A donation fund to help cover burial costs for the Campbell native has been set up. Payments may be made via www.roryparkdonations.com.
