Pleasant Hill's John F. Kennedy University Honoring Slain President On 50th Anniversary
PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) -- Friday marks 50 years since President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, and the only university in the country bearing his name is honoring the slain leader at its Pleasant Hill campus.
John F. Kennedy University, based in Pleasant Hill with two satellite campuses in San Jose and Berkeley, is holding a memorial ceremony in honor of the milestone anniversary of the late president's death.
The 10 a.m. ceremony at the campus located at 100 Ellinwood Way will include an unveiling of a bust of Kennedy and photos and mementos of the young president.

David Wallace, who witnessed the shooting at Dealey Plaza as a teenager, will speak at today's event.
Other memorial attendees include Contra Costa County Supervisor Karen Mitchoff, Pleasant Hill Mayor Michael Harris, and Georgia Morrison, the co-founder of JFK University, according to organizers.
Kennedy, 46, was shot on Nov. 22, 1963, while part of a presidential motorcade accompanied by his wife Jacqueline Onassis and the Texas governor and his wife.
Lee Harvey Oswald, 24, was determined to be the assassin, but was killed two days later while in police custody.

A moment of silence will occur at 10:30 a.m. at the school's main lobby, which was the local time when Kennedy was shot at 12:30 p.m. in Texas.
